The Uffizi is one of the finest art galleries in the world and offers the greatest collection of Italian Renaissance paintings. It also houses great works from Holland, Germany and Spain. Building of the palace began in 1560 and continued through 1581.This museum is one of the most visited sites in Florence and can have long lines (especially in July) that may take 5 hours for admittance. Advance ticket purchases are recommended during this peak time.
